Olympic Swag

Another Olympics has come and passed and I was reading this interesting article (& photo compliments of & ESPN) about a promotional giveaway that surprisingly didn't get much press. Apparently there's a lot of nookie going on among the athletes at the games so much in fact that it's necessary to give out a few hundred thousand branded condoms. Being a blog about branded swag I try to point the marketing and brand value of branded promotional items. The Olympic team responsible for this branding message could just have easily  given out the condoms without a logo on the package but I think they were pretty clever to take advantage of the advertising space... not to mention it speaks to the fact the Olympics planning committee understands the time we live in and they're being responsible in encouraging these athletes to practice safe sex.
